Television shows should be all educational, not entertaining.

All people, including the elderly as well as children, are under great pressures from this modern world from aspects like work, study and especially family, so they are trying to entertain themselves using the little time they can possible assemble, television apparently becomes the No.1 choice due to its convenience and wide availability. But some critics still hold the view that as much entertainment as we can get from these shows, they should be educational on all levels. However, I think these shows should remain entertaining rather than teach us something about real life.

It is indisputable that television shows should somewhat be educative because when children watch these shows, they could learn something and use these knowledge to their advantages. For example, TV shows like National Geography, Discovery Channel and History Channel should stay as they are, educating young children as well as the general public. Some kids watching these shows may develop some interests to various aspects of science world, so they may aim to become a scientist in the future. That’s why these shows should not be cut short or cut off in owing to their benefits to the young.

However, if all the TV shows are educational, people won’t feel relaxed any time they turn on the TV and try to enjoy their favorite shows, if there is any left for them to enjoy. Individuals are busy and stressed out pretty much everyday of their lives, these so-called educational shows may make them feel boring so we also need some entertaining TV shows in order to fulfill the needs for them. For example, the Voice of China, one of the booming TV singer selection show that is becoming a world wide acceptance because all the singers and teachers in the show are considered best and brightest in China. Since everyone is watching this TV shows, they always talk about the singers during or after school hours or work hours. Who they like the most? What the next stage is going to be like? Who will finally win the championship of this nation-wide competition? This show is so amazing that almost every Chinese living on this planet knows it, and everyone has a great time watching this show.

In conclusion, although some television shows should be educative in order to inspire the young and teach them about the world, not all television shows should aim the same purpose. Many people are just watching these shows for fun or even to have something to talk about with their friends and co-workers, so entertainment shows, the good ones like the Voice of China should remain their high standards and to accommodate the desires of this increasing number of people.
